The Cerakote Process Six steps · No shortcuts Oven-cured ceramic
01
Disassembly
Complete strip of all components. Cerakote is applied to metal parts only — polymer and electronics are masked or removed.
02
Degreasing
Full solvent degreasing to remove oils, carbon, and any surface contamination. Critical for adhesion — any residue causes failure.
03
Aluminum-Oxide Blast
Surfaces are blasted with aluminum oxide media to create a uniform anchor profile. This is what Cerakote bonds to — not bare polished metal.
04
Application
Cerakote applied by spray gun at correct mil thickness. Solid, two-tone, splatter, camo, or Battleworn patterns built up in stages.
05
Oven Cure
Full cure cycle in a dedicated oven at the correct temperature for the Cerakote series used. Air-drying is not Cerakote — it's paint.
06
Reassembly & Inspection
Complete reassembly, function check, and visual inspection. Every part confirmed to spec before the firearm leaves the bench.

Traditional Rebluing Oxynate 7 Hot-Tank · $140 Matte Vintage & Classic Firearms
The classic finish

Oxynate 7
rebluing.

For vintage firearms being restored to original spec, Cerakote isn't always the right answer — traditional hot-tank bluing is. Oxynate 7 is a hot-tank chemical conversion process that produces a deep, classic blue-black finish appropriate for original firearms.

The standard matte finish runs $140 per firearm — this includes full degreasing, hot-tank blue, and a protective oil coat. The deluxe finish adds #240 and #400 grit polish to all flat surfaces before the blue, with protected screw holes and corners. Ask for a quote on the deluxe if you want a traditional high-polish look.
